Employment Office Finds Health-Wise Solution to Disengaged Staff

Feb 3rd

Brisbane-based recruitment marketing specialist, Employment Office has joined forces with Global Corporate Health Company, Healthwise, in a bid to increase employee engagement and boost staff retention.

Managing Director of Employment Office, Tudor Marsden-Huggins, says companies need to find innovative ways to engage employees and maintain staff productivity in order to remain competitive.

“Happy, healthy and engaged staff should be the goal of any organisation, particularly during an economic downturn. Low staff retention and productivity, combined with a high level of staff absenteeism, can be an expensive and frustrating problem for Australian employers.”

“Healthwise deliver high quality health, wellness and lifestyle programs to all of our people. Their focus is on assisting our staff to increase productivity and decrease health risks (thereby reducing sick days).

Healthwise activities and programs also provide a great form of stress management” Mr Marsden-Huggins said.

Melissa Dunn Lampe of global research based consulting company, Gallup, estimates disgruntled and disengaged workers costs Australia up to $42 billion annually.

According to Gallup, organisations with an engaged workforce are 27 per cent more profitable, achieving 50 per cent higher sales and 38 per cent above average productivity.

Healthwise Global was initially involved with Flight Centre Limited who have won or been in the top 3 “Best employers to work for” in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada and South Africa for the past 9 years.

Since Healthwise’s inception, Flight Centre Ltd has seen a 26% reduction in their sick days, saving them a massive $893,861.

Healthwise has recently completed their annual pedometer challenge. Employees compete in teams to reach the highest average daily amount of steps, over a six week period.

The winning team will be announced this week win a trip to Africa, the Middle East or South America.
